Food and feed manufacturing sites can contain several drying duties with different incoming materials and quality requirements. This guide focuses on plant integration: dedicated or shared equipment, utility demand, changeovers and coordination with upstream and downstream processes.
Record the specification for each stream independently. Hygiene requirements, carryover limits and cleaning methods may determine whether equipment can be shared. Ingredient powders, solid foods and formed feed should not be assumed to use the same drying conditions merely because they are produced at one site.
Review buffer storage, conveying, feed consistency, exhaust treatment, discharge cooling and available heat. Establish which duties operate at the same time and which are seasonal. Capacity and energy requirements should use a stated operating schedule and moisture basis.
See feed ingredients, prepared animal feeds and the food drying overview. For rendered or recovered ingredient streams, use the rendering and feed-ingredient guide. Discuss the plant layout and product schedule.
