Industrial dryer questions from Philippine manufacturers.

Process, engineering, safety, conformity, environmental, operations and procurement points typically established before selecting an industrial dryer for Philippines.

Which Philippine industries does GEM Drytech serve?

We support coconut and desiccated coconut, coconut coir, food, fruit, seafood, rice, sugarcane, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, fertilizer, biomass, paper, sludge, recycling and mineral processing.

Can we test Philippine coconut, food or sludge samples before ordering a dryer?

Yes. The Dried & Tested pilot program can assess representative feed material, moisture removal, temperature limits, residence time and scale-up basis.

What workplace safety law applies to industrial dryer installations in the Philippines?

Republic Act No. 11058 strengthens occupational safety and health compliance. DOLE Department Order No. 252, Series of 2025, is its revised implementing rules and supersedes DO 198-18. The plant should assess machinery hazards, guards, emergency stops, training, maintenance and risk controls for its installation.

Does every industrial dryer imported into the Philippines require PS or ICC certification?

No automatic blanket requirement should be assumed. DTI-BPS mandatory Philippine Standard (PS) and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) schemes apply to products specifically covered by current mandatory product certification regulations. Verify the exact industrial dryer and any regulated electrical or mechanical components against the current BPS list.

Is CE marking a substitute for Philippine approvals?

No. CE marking can be relevant evidence for a European conformity route but does not automatically replace Philippine laws, DOLE plant requirements, DTI-BPS product rules or local permits.

Which electrical standards should a Philippine dryer project consider?

Electrical design and installation should be checked against the applicable Philippine Electrical Code, utility and building requirements, and relevant PNS/IEC standards. DTI-BPS certification for particular components depends on whether those products are currently covered by a mandatory regulation.

What if combustible dust is generated during coconut, grain or biomass drying?

Combustible dust requires project-specific hazard assessment, ignition-source control, housekeeping, appropriate electrical selection, ventilation and explosion/fire protection where warranted. Plant OSH obligations must be addressed under applicable Philippine requirements.

What food safety rules may affect a coconut or food dryer?

Republic Act No. 10611, the Food Safety Act of 2013, and applicable FDA rules govern relevant food business activities. Food processors may need current GMP, sanitary procedures and HACCP controls as applicable. The dryer should be engineered around product contact materials, cleanability and contamination risks.

Does the dryer itself require an FDA License to Operate?

FDA Licenses to Operate are associated with regulated food businesses or establishments, not a universal certification for every industrial dryer. Confirm the food processor’s establishment and product obligations with the Philippine FDA.

Which environmental laws affect dryer exhaust emissions in the Philippines?

Republic Act No. 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act), Republic Act No. 9275 (Philippine Clean Water Act) and relevant DENR implementing rules or permits can apply depending on exhaust, combustion, wastewater and site activities. Project-specific permit and emission-limit checks are necessary.

When is an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) relevant?

An ECC may be required for projects covered by the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System under Presidential Decree No. 1586 and applicable DENR guidelines. Site category, project scope and thresholds determine the assessment and documentation route.

What about boilers, steam radiators and pressure equipment?

If the dryer uses steam, pressure vessels or boilers, confirm applicable Philippine mechanical, boiler and pressure-vessel safety requirements, inspections and local authority permits for the installed system. Equipment classifications and site duties vary.

Can GEM Drytech design hygienic desiccated coconut drying lines?

Yes. Material-contact construction, belt/apron arrangement, temperature profile, product residence time, cleaning access, feed system and downstream cooling can be considered for desiccated coconut processing. Final validation depends on the customer specification and trial data.

What heat sources can be used with a Philippine industrial dryer?

Possible options include steam, thermal oil, electricity, hot air, combustion/flue gas and usable waste heat, subject to the material, food-safety needs, emissions and process design.

Can the system integrate with existing coconut processing or food lines?

Yes. Feeding, conveying, drying, cooling, PLC/HMI controls and downstream interfaces can be assessed and included in the engineered scope.

Which Philippine documents and certifications should be planned before shipment?

Depending on product scope and site, plan technical drawings, manuals, component certificates, inspections, DTI-BPS product certification only where listed, DOLE workplace safety measures, applicable FDA/GMP requirements and DENR permits. Certification must be verified case by case, not promised generically.

What information is needed for a Philippines dryer quotation?
