Northern Lights Food Processing, LLC
Project summary:
Completed dryer installation work, commissioning support, and operator training for Northern Lights Food Processing in the USA.
From coconut and palm oil to seafood, coffee, cocoa, rice, tapioca, feed, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biomass, sludge, recycling and minerals, GEM Drytech designs dryer systems around the material, evaporation load, product quality and Indonesian plant conditions.
Indonesia combines major coconut, palm oil, seafood, agricultural, mineral and pulp-processing industries. Moisture affects product quality, storage, transport costs, energy consumption and factory throughput.
Each system is sized around feed moisture, target moisture, evaporation load, product sensitivity, available heat, hygiene, dust control, emissions and site-specific Indonesian K3, SNI and environmental requirements.
Explore Indonesia-specific products and by-products. Final selection depends on moisture, capacity, heat source, food hygiene, combustible dust, emissions and downstream use.

For Indonesian processors, final moisture can influence stability, flowability, purity, texture, storage, packaging, energy use and downstream processing. The dryer is selected around the product requirement rather than a fixed machine type.
Drying can stabilize wet co-products and process solids, reduce handling burden and support recovery routes where the material, temperature limits and final-use requirements make thermal drying appropriate.
Focused on industries where moisture directly affects product quality, process stability, throughput, storage, purity, energy use, emissions, transport or the value of a wet process stream.

Long-term project relationships, successful commissioning, performance validation and customer support across Indonesia, Canada and the USA.
Drying equipment for Indonesian plants must balance process results, K3 machine safety, applicable SNI and food requirements, environmental approvals, available utilities and industrial integration.
Uneven moisture can affect desiccated coconut, coconut chips and export food quality.
EFB, PKS and wet fibres create handling and fuel-efficiency challenges.
Fishmeal, aquafeed and seafood co-products need suitable drying to manage quality and stability.
Cassava pulp, rice residues, sugarcane bagasse and coffee husk vary in feed moisture.
ETP and municipal sludge transport excess water before disposal, recovery or fuel blending.
Industrial production equipment needs guarding, emergency stops and appropriate inspection, testing and operator controls.
SNI obligations are product-specific; food processors also need suitable hygienic design and applicable BPOM CPPOB practices.
Dryer exhaust, particulates, fuel combustion and wastewater may affect plant environmental approvals.
Representative materials can be tested to define drying behaviour and scale-up parameters.
Select continuous belt, apron, paddle, rotary, fluid-bed or other dryer technologies based on process needs.
Engineer heating, airflow and residence time around evaporation duty and available utilities.
Support consistent output for production lines handling coconut, seafood, palm biomass, agro-products and more.
Coordinate feeding, conveying, drying, cooling, ventilation, controls and downstream interfaces.
Identify applicable K3 checks, product-specific SNI obligations, food/halal process requirements and PP 22/2021 environmental approvals during engineering.
Define the engineering basis and applicable Indonesian machinery safety, SNI, food or environmental requirements early in the project.
Material, feed rate, incoming and required final moisture, operating hours, product use, available heat, electricity and plant location.
Test a representative wet material to establish actual drying behaviour and a realistic scale-up basis.
Define evaporation load, airflow, controls, hygiene, dust and fire risk, inspection needs under applicable K3 rules and product-specific SNI/CPPOB requirements.
Coordinate equipment documents, local operating procedures, site installation, commissioning, training and project-specific environmental approvals under PP 22/2021.
Process, engineering, safety, conformity, environmental, operations and procurement points typically established before selecting an industrial dryer for Indonesia.
We design around coconut, palm oil, seafood, rice, coffee, cocoa, tapioca, sugarcane, food, feed, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, fertilizer, biomass, pulp, sludge, recycling, minerals and metals.
Yes. Dried & Tested trials use representative materials to assess the moisture target, residence time, product behaviour and scale-up requirements.
Law No. 1 of 1970 establishes the occupational safety framework. Permenaker No. 38 of 2016 covers occupational safety for power and production machinery, subject to later amendments. Applicability, inspections, testing and operator requirements should be established for the actual machine and site.
No. Indonesian National Standards (SNI) are not universally mandatory for all industrial dryers. Mandatory certification applies only where a relevant product-specific regulation requires it; the current HS classification and scope must be checked before import or sale.
Depending on equipment classification and workplace use, inspection, testing, guarding, emergency-stop functions and operator qualification may be required under the relevant Indonesian K3 framework, including Permenaker 38/2016.
Steam systems, boilers and pressure equipment may fall within Indonesia’s occupational safety rules for steam machinery or pressure vessels. Classification, certified inspection, operation and associated documentation must be reviewed for each scope; a dryer itself is not automatically a certified pressure vessel.
Government Regulation PP No. 22/2021 addresses environmental protection and management. Depending on the activity, environmental approvals, air-emission standards, wastewater standards and relevant AMDAL or UKL-UPL documents may apply.
Food dryers should be designed for cleanable product-contact surfaces, safe contact materials and contamination control. Indonesian food processors should review BPOM Good Manufacturing Practices for Processed Food (CPPOB) and their applicable licensing requirements.
Halal certification obligations concern regulated products and business activities, not an automatic certification of every industrial dryer. BPJPH has identified 18 October 2026 as a key implementation date for specified product categories. Evaluate product-contact materials, cleaning and contamination controls for the customer’s halal assurance system.
Yes. GEM has international project experience in coconut processing and can evaluate continuous apron/band dryer configurations according to feed properties, hygiene, capacity and target moisture.
Yes, subject to material characteristics, feed size, actual evaporation duty, ignition risks, final fuel use and available heat source.
Yes. Sludge drying is evaluated on wet feed rate, solids concentration, dewatered cake behaviour, final moisture, odour, emissions and the permitted disposal or recovery pathway.
Yes. Motors, panels, VFDs, PLC/HMI, protective devices, earthing and instrumentation can be specified against project requirements, applicable electrical installation rules and customer plant standards.
Materials such as grain dust, coconut powder, fine biomass and some chemicals require a process-specific dust/fire risk review, ignition-source controls, dust collection and appropriate protection measures. Do not assume any single universal certification applies.
Yes. The best heating source depends on evaporation load, process temperature, hygiene, energy cost, utility availability and plant emissions requirements.
No. CE marking addresses applicable EU legislation and does not by itself replace Indonesia-specific import, SNI, K3, food or environmental requirements. Requirements should be checked for the equipment and location.
