For Greek processors, final moisture can influence stability, flowability, purity, texture, storage, packaging, energy use and downstream processing. The dryer is selected around the product requirement rather than a fixed machine type.
Drying can stabilize wet co-products and process solids, reduce handling burden and support recovery routes where the material, temperature limits and final-use requirements make thermal drying appropriate.
Focused on industries where moisture directly affects product quality, process stability, throughput, storage, purity, energy use, emissions, transport or the value of a wet process stream.

Long-term project relationships, successful commissioning, performance validation and customer support across the USA, Canada and Indonesia.
Drying equipment for Greek plants must balance process results, EU machinery conformity, applicable food and hygiene requirements, environmental approvals, available utilities and industrial integration.
Two-phase olive pomace and olive mill cake arrive very wet and strongly seasonal.
Grape pomace, wine lees and distillery solids degrade quickly if they are not stabilized after the harvest peak.
Fish trimmings, viscera and aquaculture co-products need controlled drying to hold fishmeal and protein quality.
Whey solids, cheese fines and dairy filter cake are heat-sensitive and need hygienic handling.
Municipal and industrial sludge carries large volumes of water to disposal, recovery or fuel blending.
Machinery placed on the EU market needs conformity assessment, guarding, emergency stops and user documentation.
Food processors need hygienic design, cleanable contact surfaces and HACCP-based controls.
Dryer exhaust, particulates, fuel combustion and wastewater may affect the plant's environmental approval.
Representative materials can be tested to define drying behaviour and scale-up parameters.
Select continuous belt, apron, paddle, rotary, fluid-bed or other dryer technologies based on process needs.
Engineer heating, airflow and residence time around evaporation duty and available utilities.
Support consistent output for production lines handling olive, grape, seafood, dairy, agro-products and more.
Coordinate feeding, conveying, drying, cooling, ventilation, controls and downstream interfaces.
Identify applicable CE conformity routes, ATEX and hygiene requirements, and Greek environmental licensing obligations during engineering.
Define the engineering basis and applicable EU machinery, hygiene, ATEX or environmental requirements early in the project.
Material, feed rate, incoming and required final moisture, operating hours, product use, available heat, electricity and plant location.
Test a representative wet material to establish actual drying behaviour and a realistic scale-up basis.
Define evaporation load, airflow, controls, hygiene, dust and fire risk, and the applicable CE conformity route under the Machinery, Low Voltage, EMC, ATEX and pressure equipment legislation.
Coordinate the Declaration of Conformity and technical file, site installation, commissioning, operator training and project-specific environmental licensing under Law 4014/2011.
Process, engineering, safety, conformity, environmental, operations and procurement points typically established before selecting an industrial dryer for Greece.
We design around olive oil and olive processing, wine and distilling, fruit, vegetable and citrus processing, seafood and aquaculture, dairy and whey, grain and milling, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, fertilizers, cotton and textiles, wood and biomass, pulp and paper, sludge, recycling and RDF, cement and minerals, and mining and metals.
Yes. Dried & Tested trials use representative materials to assess the moisture target, residence time, product behaviour and scale-up requirements before any investment decision.
Greece applies EU harmonised legislation. Machinery is currently covered by Directive 2006/42/EC, and Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027, repealing the Directive from that date. At workplace level, Law 3850/2010 ratifies the Greek Code of Laws on Health and Safety of Workers, and Presidential Decree 395/1994 covers minimum safety requirements for work equipment. Applicability should be established for the actual machine and site.
Where the equipment falls within the scope of applicable EU harmonised legislation, yes. Depending on the scope this can include the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, and ATEX or pressure equipment legislation where relevant. A Declaration of Conformity and technical file are prepared for the delivered scope.
Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027 and replaces Directive 2006/42/EC from that date. For projects delivering around that period, the applicable conformity route, documentation and any digital documentation requirements should be agreed during engineering.
Pressure equipment and assemblies may fall within the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU, with national inspection and operation requirements applying in Greece. Classification, certified inspection and documentation must be reviewed for each scope; a dryer is not automatically a certified pressure vessel.
Environmental licensing in Greece is framed by Law 4014/2011, which classifies works and activities into Category A and B and leads to an Approval of Environmental Terms. Depending on the activity, Directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions may apply, and combustion plants rated between 1 MW and below 50 MW fall under the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (EU) 2015/2193.
Food dryers should be designed for cleanable product-contact surfaces, safe contact materials and contamination control. Regulation (EC) 852/2004 requires HACCP-based procedures, food-contact materials are covered by Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, and the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) is the national control body.
Materials such as grain dust, olive stone fines, fine biomass and some chemicals require a process-specific dust and fire risk review. In the EU framework, Directive 1999/92/EC covers workplace explosion protection including the explosion protection document, and Directive 2014/34/EU covers equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres, as transposed into Greek law. Zone classification is site-specific and no single universal certification applies.
Yes, subject to material characteristics. Two-phase olive pomace, olive mill cake and olive stones are evaluated on wet feed rate, initial moisture, stickiness, product temperature limit, seasonal operating profile and the intended outlet, whether biomass fuel, soil amendment or an ingredient stream.
Yes, subject to material characteristics, feed size, actual evaporation duty, temperature sensitivity and the final use. These streams are strongly seasonal, so the design basis should reflect harvest-peak wet feed rather than an annual average.
Yes. Sludge drying is evaluated on wet feed rate, solids concentration, dewatered cake behaviour, final moisture, odour, emissions and the permitted disposal or recovery pathway. Where dried sludge is intended for agricultural use, Directive 86/278/EEC and the Greek implementing Joint Ministerial Decision 80568/4225/1991 are relevant.
Greek industrial sites are normally supplied at 230 V single-phase and 400 V three-phase, 50 Hz. Motors, panels, VFDs, PLC/HMI, protective devices, earthing and instrumentation can be specified against EN and ELOT EN standards, the Low Voltage and EMC Directives, motor ecodesign requirements under Regulation (EU) 2019/1781 and customer plant standards.
Yes. The best heating source depends on evaporation load, process temperature, hygiene, energy cost, utility availability at the site and plant emissions requirements. Where fuel combustion is added, applicable emission limits and any carbon obligations should be reviewed.
No. CE marking addresses product conformity with applicable EU legislation. It does not replace site-level obligations such as environmental licensing under Law 4014/2011, occupational safety duties under Law 3850/2010, or sector-specific food or waste requirements.
EU fertilising products placed on the market with CE marking fall under Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, which sets product function categories, component material categories and contaminant limits. The product route should be confirmed before fixing the drying specification.
